Radio Times Review for 'And Then I Fell In Love'

Warning: The following article does contain minor spoilers. If you wish to continue, click read more.

If the plotting in Silent Witness was as immaculate as its sense of style, it would be the best crime show on TV. What the series does very well is film horrible, upsetting stories with such lovingly art-directed care that we’re seduced one minute and repulsed the next. Tonight, for instance, while the pathologists joke around in their lovely clothes and stylish apartments, the main plot concerns an Asian gang grooming white schoolgirls with drugs and jewellery, then sexually exploiting them.

It’s really nasty stuff, and we flit uncomfortably between the two worlds with the nagging sense that the script is dwelling on the horrors of the abuse a little too pointedly. Meanwhile, Harry and Nikki share a takeaway and listen to Coldplay in her flat. Is it me or are they flirting?

3/12. Part one of two. Nikki sees a barefoot girl being knocked over by a car, marking the beginning of a case that takes the team into the harrowing world of sex grooming and teenage prostitution. The police know the girl has been abused but the question is, by whom? Suspicion soon falls on her stepfather. Meanwhile, an early-morning bath saves Harry's life, and two puzzling corpses are brought in to the centre - a heavily tattooed man and a decomposed body found at the airport. Concludes tomorrow.

4/12. Part two of two. Nikki uses facial reconstruction to identify the decomposed body found at the airport, and she and Harry make a crucial connection between the dead girls and sex-grooming victim Shannon, who is later returned to her family. But when her stepfather learns about her ordeal, he vows revenge on the men who abused her. Forensic crime drama, with a guest appearance by Sanjeev Bhaskar.

  1. Hmm... The early morning bath that saves Harry's life; Does that mean we get to see some chest? Maybe a little more?

I hope so! :P It sounds like such a good episode though :) With or without all the Harry/Nikki-ness it feels like it's going to be a good one :D

Haha. I didn't think of that. I'm presuming the 'saves his life' part means that it saves him from gas explosion??? So excited for this ep. The premise behind the plot sounds really good...however i don't think im gonna be able to focus with harry and nikki overtaking my screen with their flirty behaviour. :D

  2. I know! but it does seem to confirm that flirting is all it is- I thought itcould be the beginning of something more for them . everyone says they should get together eventually but at this rate they will have evolved into a different species before that happens. maybe there will be more developments later in the series there's still hope!

    1. Same conclusion for me: flirting is all there will be :-((( they will never ever get together. They cannot make like a 30 series, so it will never happen. The love between Leo and Janet was made up in half an hour, why can't we have the same in 5 series??

    2. I forgot: when flirting is all there is, I don't watch anymore. Voila.

Well flirting 'could' be all there is but then again if there was more than that then the radio times couldn't give it away. Let's think about this a little. When harry kissed nikki in Body of Work it was broadcasted in tvtimes the week before it happened so everyone knew. In the first ep of last year we all knew that nikki was going to share a kiss with harry before it happened...but this time they're not giving anything like that away. There weren't even ANY harry/nikki scenes in the trailer for next week...despite us knowing he moves into her flat and that being an integral part of the story. Last week when leo kissed Lizzie that was shown in the trailer soooo.... Emilia is making it pretty clear that this is more than just their usual banter by saying things like 'we see them loving eachother' 'some things go on over a takeaway' 'they are constantly going into eachother's rooms' I reckon something will happen but she's only allowed to give so much away and it's killing her. Emilia wants it just as much as us :)

    4. well, I'm a flemish girl and over here, saturday to come it's 'shadows', so 2 seasons behind. So, the references you give, I must search on youtube (what I do, OMG i do all day long). We don't get all those trailers over here. But I was happy enough, thx to this website, to be just in time to start following on BBC1 'and death has no dominion', so I skip the whole 14th season (well, i downloaded it... and watched the H+N scenes on youtube).
which episode you mean by 'the first of last year'? Because in years, I'm talking about 2015 I guess (before it's aired over here) :-(((
